new full moon ritual

Here’s my newest piece.

It’s watercolor on paper, oak frame.
Part of my Worlds Within Worlds collection.

I’m excited about a monthly art drop. I’ve been looking forward.

It’s not always like that, sometimes it just feels normal to share my work.
And then it’s kind of nothing. An endless feed, nothing’s special.

But that’s what rituals do, and I think we need those.

What do you think?

Release

I’ve been chasing silence for years trying to quiet my mind and learn to be more present and conscious. The album serves as proof that I fail to live in constant balance and raises the question if that’s even the goal. The songs are moving in and out of rush and rest without finding a single moment of silence. I guess I’m still chasing. From the press release: ‘Chasing Silence’ seeks questions rather than answers. Meaning isn’t found at the finish line but along the road, and the album puts the listener into Grandjean’s process rather than at the conclusion. Songs like ‘Babylon’, ‘Indigo’, and ‘Jericho’ explore themes of introspection and the juxtaposition of serenity and chaos. ‘Sage’ and ‘Rivers Don’t Speak’ take us on journeys into the wild exploring acceptance on the hunt for silence and meaning." ‘Chasing Silence’ is written and produced by Alexander Grandjean; with several songs co-written by his friend from Nashville, Evan Gibb (of the indie-folk band ‘Sød Ven’). The album explores the sound space between melancholia and hope, driven by acoustic classical guitars, groovy bass lines and soulful beats. As the songs unfold, warm würlitzers and dusty pianos join along with wide choirs, dreamy synth pads and lush reverbs with occasional orchestral elements. Alexander Grandjean says about his project: “I think distractions and anxiety have gotten a little bit out of control. I’m here to slow things down and remind myself and everybody else that we need to find ways to live more harmoniously and in sync with nature.”
